Acoustic Originals to Rocking Covers in West Palm Thursday

Started out Thursday with visit to Kona Grill’s happy hour (and it is a great one, with 1/2 off selected Sushi and appetizers) and I kept hearing the music wafting in as patrons went out to the patio, so I grabbed my Zoom and caught this great singer from Lake Worth (Shauna Sweeney) playing on the deck at the Kona Grill in West Palm. Turns out she has a band and a great sounding CD. Her guitar was fighting the heat (messing up her tuning) but she did a great job anyway! The singer/songwriter has played the stage at Sunfest as well as many other venues here in South Florida, and has a great band backing her up on many concert dates.

Took the free trolley down to Clematis, where the Datura Street band, one of the more popular cover bands to frequent the stage at West Palm’s Clematis by Night brought another good sized crowd to the downtown Thursday night hot spot. It’s a great place to hang from 6-9 on nearly every Thursday. It’s not just about the music, either; Clematis by Night has a great selection of food vendors that set up on site as well as all the nearby restaurants….

Then on my way back to my car (via the free trolley again) I thought I might stick my head in to BB Kings to hear the Eagles Tribute band “the Long Run;” In a deviation from their “tribute Tuesdays,” BB Kings in West Palm had a tribute band Thursday. Great music, great connection to the crowd, made for a great night at BB Kings. This is a seven piece band that is worth taking a drive to DOwntown West Palm to hear!
